About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Why Didn't I

This is a poem about how I am feeling at this point in my life after losing my wife.
Yes it is melancholy but it is also therapeutic.
*****
Why am I so lonely
when I see
so many are here?
Why am I hearing you laughing
 when I know
you are not there?
Why can't I smile to others
when asked
how do I feel?
Why can't I care for friends
like she did
feeding them with a meal?
Why didn't I hold onto to you
tightly
with all my might?
Why didn't I kiss you endlessly
so you couldn't let go
that dreadful frightful night?
Why didn't I
*****
This is,
Time For Me To Go Cry Now
Happy Birthday Honey

And,

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”

I do have to say that today is also a happy occasion because my second oldest daughter was born on the same day as my wife.
We will be celebrating her birthday this afternoon.

That is my story and I am sticking to it!

Tomorrow Is My Wife's Birthday

I know I haven't been consistent on posting stories or whatever is on my mind up on this blog this year. If you read some of my earlier posts at the beginning of March, you would know that my wife passed away in February from COVID. I'm still somewhere in the middle of the Seven Stages Of Grief. I did talk to my Doctor recently about it and she said it could take up to a year or more before I come to grips with her loss. I am hoping that I'm not boring you with me posting my personal problems and that you stick by me through my turmoils. I have some great stories ideas written down in my notebook, but I'm struggling with motivating myself to sit down and write them. I have also decided to stop pursuing a Literary Agent to publish my material. Instead I will be self publishing eBooks and selling them for the cheap price of only $2. Get it? Selling them for two bucks because I'm Two Buck Howie. It is even hard to be funny these days. Thank you for understanding and again I would like to thank everyone for their support over these past few months. Knowing that you come back to read what I have to say is therapeutic in itself.

Electric Dave

Last Christmas my brother Al sent me a copy of a video he recorded of the band Uncalled Four for my Christmas present. I loved it.
Dave, Todd, Jack, and I comprised that band in 1985 and was some of the best times of my life.
(Getting married and having kids will always be my greatest accomplishment.)
I sent Electric Dave a copy of the recording so he could make copies for everyone who was in the band. What I wasn't expecting was getting five years of recordings of shows and practice sessions we did together. He also sent a beautiful letter, which he gave me permission to put up on my blog. I know it is hard to read so I'll write down one section that he wrote to me that brought a tear to my eye.
"In retrospect, signing on with you and the original lineup of Uncalled Four back in 84' was one of the best things that could have happened to me musically, because it taught me to prepare to play gigs in front of a live audience. So, thank you for inviting me along on the trip."
One of my proudest moments was reading that part.

These Jokes Are Rated R

This post is rated R so please don't let your children read it.

*****
A friend of mine insists that I'm not in touch with my emotions. I told her I was in front of the big screen TV just the other day, watching a movie with a box of tissues. My friend quickly asks, "Was the movie called, Debbie does Dallas?"

At least I finally made my Dad happy. You see, he always wanted me to go to Medical School, so today I donated my body to Science when I die.

You know why God created Man before Woman? So Man could figure out his story when the Woman finally asks, "Where have you been?"

When I would ask my Mom if I could have the car when I was a teenager still living at home, the last thing she always said before handing me the key was,
"Children in the backseat can cause accidents. Accidents in the back seat can cause children."

My youngest daughter told me this one when she was only 17 years old.
"What is 6.9? A really good time ruined by a period!"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
She's was 17!
She is now 23
and I'm finally over it.

So answer me this. "If Wile E. Coyote has enough money to buy all that stuff from ACME, why doesn't he just buy himself a good dinner?"

Did you know why Blondes can't dial 911? Because they can't find the Eleven!

If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?

Why do Doctors call what they do, a Practice?

A friend of mine asked me, "Do you really think you are quick witted telling these jokes?" I said, "Sure. I just write the first thing that pops into my head."
Her reply? "It shows because you don't have much to choose from."

Say Hello To My Little Friend

Asteroid 2008 GO20 Going 18,000 MPH On 'Close Approach' With Earth
A space rock that is potentially as big as the Washington Monument is due to pass by the Earth this weekend.
By Ed Browne for MSN.com
"Asteroid 2008 GO20 is due to make a close approach to Earth on Sunday July 25 at about 1:50 p.m. EDT. It is being tracked by NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS). Scientists think the asteroid could measure up to 721 feet in diameter, though this figure is not certain. The space rock could also be as small as 218 feet in diameter. In comparison, the Washington Monument is 555 feet tall. When 2008 GO20 passes by our planet it is due to be traveling at a speed of around 18,400 miles per hour—faster than the space shuttle when it orbited the Earth.Although the asteroid is making a close approach according to CNEOS, the term "close" is relative in space. The asteroid is not going to skim past our planet or pose any danger to us this weekend. It will actually pass Earth at a distance of more than 2.8 million miles. This is over 11 times farther away from us than the moon is."
 WHAT?
That's it?
That's as close as it is going to get?
I was all excited about getting an
Asteroid Burn
too!
You know,
like a
Sun Burn.
Remember,
it's not if it is going to happen,
but when it will happen.
Someday I will get that
Asteroid Burn
I've been dreaming about.
*****
"Are you trying to tell me that an asteroid burn is when the asteroid burns up in the Earth's atmosphere? Like that would happen. I am going with my fake physics that I've learned on the always truthful internet and an asteroid burn is like a sun burn."

“Never in my life had I wished so hard for a thousand-foot-wide asteroid to change its course to hit someone directly in the face. I Have A Few Stories With Those Difficult Letters To Start With In A Title

I am so proud
and grateful to two friends of mine.
First,
Electric Dave,
which was his stage name when we were playing clubs back in our
Rock N' Rolls Days
sent me
Eleven CDs & Ten DVDs
of a decade of music we played together.
Still a little melancholy after the loss of my
Dear Wife,
I told
The Electric One
how I have stopped submitting my writing to literary agents.
He is so positive,
after talking to him,
he actually got me motivated to keep on writing.
He also had a special request that I write some new music.
I have a song already lined up for him.
Second,
my insurance agent,
who I consider a good friend,
I also told her how my motivation is lacking of late
and she also is a positive person
and she told me I shouldn't stop because I am so good at it.
Thank you both.
I can't give up now with support like that.

Now back to what this post is all about.

23 Stories Starting With The Letter T In Their Title

When I said I was going to redecorate my blog
and hopefully finish up before this coming weekend,
did I forget to mention that I am helping my daughter move?
I am doing all the cleaning
and it is taking me longer then expected.
So today I am taking the time to post the stories I wrote which start with the letter
T.
There is a lot of them too!
Twenty-six as of today.

Q, R, & S

I am going to try to finish up my renovation of this blog by the end of next week,
I hope.
I have a couple of story ideas I want to write down because,
if I don't get them out of my head soon,
they will haunt me in the witching hours
and my waking hours.
Oh I like that sentence.
I should write it down somewhere.
So today I am posting the links to my stories starting with the letters
Q & R
in their titles.
One of my favorite stories of all time starts with the letter
R.

Twin Eidolons - Chapter 8

I had blocked my husband's number on my phone four days earlier, when I arrived at my mother's place. Apparently Mom hasn't. After a dozen or so chimes from the doorbell, Mom answers her phone the first time it rings.
"What are you doing?" I yell at her agitated. "You know it's Daryl. Why would you answer?"
"You know he isn't going to stop until we listen to what he has to say." Mom points out. "If he still sounds like an idiot, we'll send him away for good."
"I don't know Mom." I say. "I'm a little confused about the whole situation. I don't want to talk to him right now."
While my mother has a conversation with Daryl on her phone, I think about what I want to do. I think about how we were before inheriting the house and all that money. We were happy then. I hope we can be happy again.
"Okay Mom. Let's hear what he has to say."
Without saying goodbye, Mom hangs up her phone, goes to the front door and lets in Daryl and Minister Wilcox from the First Haitian Baptist Church. The church I have been trying to get my husband to go to since we've been married.
As soon as Daryl sees me, he runs over, kneels down in front of me and tries to grab my hand. I refuse and pull away. He is stunned for a few seconds.
"Darling. Honey. Please forgive me." he says. Then turns around to look at Wilcox. Looking back at me he says, "I've been talking to your Minister the last couple of days and he advises me not to make excuses for my past transgressions, but to say how I feel about you and how I will change for our family's happiness. I love you Rose. I truly do. I love that we are going to have a baby together and I love the life we had before this whole inheritance thing happened. I'm sorry I got caught up in that whole nonsense. If it would make you happy, let's forget about the money and the mansion and just go back the way we were. Please dear? I love you"
