About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

A Legacy

I have been thinking about this for awhile now.
Earlier this year my
Sister
retired from teaching.
I was asked to write something appropriate about her.
Something that explains her
Legacy.
But it was hard coming up with something that hasn't been said already.
But like a gift that suddenly comes from out of the blue,
I realized what needed to be said.
Her Legacy!
There are so many people in this world who believe they need to leave a
Legacy
so they will be remembered.
So history will not forget them.
A person will strive to be a
President,
a
King,
or any kind of
Ruler
of a sovereign nation to always have leave behind a
Legacy
in their country,
or to the world.
Some industrialists will build tall enormous buildings
and name those structures after themselves hoping the building will past the test of time
and people will remember them for it.
Others will lead great armies of men into battle
and win those fights
and believe that is what is important so they will not be forgotten.
Still others believe if they attain riches beyond belief
and leave their inheritance to family members this will assure they are remembered.
But the
Greatest
and
Most Important Legacy
of all,
left behind by someone,
is the way they have touched
and influenced the lives they have come across in their own life.
It's when you are given a retirement party by the school system you have given most of your life to and are asked you to make a speech.
In that speech you ask the attendees to stand up after asking a series of questions on how your work over the years has
Helped,
Influenced,
and
Touched
their lives.
And the room stands up.
If after some thirty odds years of work,
one of your former students names you as the person who influenced their life while they were in school,
you have left greatest of
Legacies.
A person's
Legacy
will never be a building,
money,
or of being a leader.
Unless of course,
like my
Sister,
you have influenced people's lives in a positive way.
Thank you
Mary Ellen.
For your
Legacy
will always be felt
and remembered in the
Hearts,
Minds,
and
Souls
of your former
Students,
your
Friends,
and your
Family.
You have touched us all!

Still On Vacation

I am still on vacation
and probably will not be able to consistently
Post
stories on my
Blog
until
January 6th.
I hope you continue to go through the archives
and read something you haven't seen before.
Thanks for checking in.
And thanks to everyone who either comes back to read my story
or have told their friends
and family to check it out.
It still amazes me on how well that story does as far as daily readership goes.

Santa Is Real

Help me! I’m trapped. I was searching the plausibility that Saint Nicholas is for real. I was in my study, typing away at my computer, when a tactical team of Green Barrette looking Elves busted down my front door and came through all of my windows. I would have laughed at the sight of it, because they looked so cute, but I was scared. One of the elves, with a toy gun, proved to me it was lethal by shooting up my sofa. I had no choice, I did what I was told. Luckily for me the Elves were not very good at frisking because they are so short and they missed my cell phone in the top pocket of my coat. Now if you are reading my Blog and wondering why I don’t call for help, I have. No one will listen. They are all under the influence of Saint Nick's spell. I’m telling you and you better listen. Santa Claus is real, and he delivers all the Christmas presents to the children all over the world in a single night! He is an inter-dimensional being. There are no toy factories on Earth. His Elves make all the toys you see. When adults think they are shopping for their children, they are actually under a hypnotic force where the Elves are investigating who has been good and who has been naughty. Then the Elves plant a memory into all the grownups, making them believe they did all the shopping. To pay for all these toys, the Elves also get the adults to give them their credit cards and then the little tykes maxes those babies out! They brainwash everyone into thinking that they spent the money! It’s a trillion dollar business Santa has going. Wait? Somebody is coming. Please help me. Call the police! Now
This is,
It’s Too Late.....

Yippee!

I thought I would have time today to
Post
something
Extraordinary,
Exciting,
and sounding really
Intelligent,
but the clock got away from me.
What I mean by that is,
I am going on vacation right after I write this.
Yippee!

but please,
take the time to read some of my
Short Stories & Flash Fiction,
watch some

read my
The Man From Mars Weekly Serial,
read my
Poetry,
the first three chapters of
The Fuhrer's Medallion,
my

novelette,
True Life Stories,
and
The Hauenstein Philosophy.
All really good reading on these cold winter days

Some Afflictions Never Go Away

The reason I didn't write a
Post
yesterday will become apparent
after you read my
Post
called
Afflicted By One Of The Seven Deadly Sins
dated
October 5th, 2015.
(Man, that was a lot of work.)
*****
 I have written
Posts
on
and other
Skills & Habits
the
Human Species
develops during a person's lifetime.
But there is a threat to our very existence that each of us must fight off each day of our lives.
You might be thinking that this menace could be an
Addiction,
or a
Disease?
Might it be
Gluttony,
Envy,
Pride,
Lust,
Greed,
or something simple as being
Angry
all the time.
(Like a lot of Conservatives are these days.)
No,
it's not one of these selfish traits,
but is one of the most heinous of all the
This threat is eating at the heart of
Humanities
survival.
That if left unchecked,
it could mean the end of mankind,
here on
Earth!
What am I talking about?
What is this parasite that all of us should fear?
It's called,
LAZINESS!
(Sloth is the name of the sin in Christianity.)
Yes,
Laziness.
So get off your buttocks
and do something in this
World
worthwhile.
Help someone in need.
Help your neighbor,
a friend,
or a family member.
Listen to someone who needs to talk to feel better.
Give your time to a charitable cause.
Just don't sit their
and be a pessimist on the state of the
World!
Do something about it!
Like I did today.
(Patting myself on the back.)
Getting off the
Freeway
I saw a
Homeless Man
holding up a cardboard sign which read,
Hungry, Will Work For Food.
So,
you know what I did?
I said,
"Here, take this dollar. No I have no work for you or refuge from this rain. And no, I can't give you a ride to the Homeless Shelter."
Why?
Because I'm too damn lazy!
(At least I gave him a buck.)

Gleaming Geminid

Look to the skies tonight!
Head for dark, clear skies tonight—overnight Dec. 13-14—to see the shooting stars of the Geminid meteor shower overhead. The shower is likely to be the best meteor shower of 2018, and it will be visible in both hemispheres—though the Northern Hemisphere will have an advantage. While the August Perseid meteor shower is more famous, experts are saying to get outside for this one as well.
“Maybe because it’s cold for so many during this shower’s peak,” Diana Hannikainen, Sky & Telescope’s observing editor, said in a statement. “But the Geminids are often the best display of ‘shooting stars’ all year.” Geminid Meteor Shower 2018: When, Where & How to See It According to Sky & Telescope, the Geminids are set to peak at 7:30 a.m. EST (1130 GMT) on Dec. 14, when Earth plunges through the thickest part of the trail of dust and debris left behind by the asteroid 3200 Phaethon as it orbits the sun. That means that the best times to watch are when it’s dark in your local time zone surrounding that peak, such as just before dawn on Dec. 14. But if you won’t be up in those early hours, you can also start watching a couple hours after sunset; the moon will set at about 10:30 p.m. local time on Dec. 13, and about 11 p.m. local time on Dec. 14, so just look after that on either of those nights.

I Know - A Love Poem

"I Know"
is actually a song I wrote during the
Nineteen-Eighties
with the rock band
TwoBuckHowie With The Exact Change.

I wrote songs as
Poetry
first,
then I added the
Music.

When I sit and listen
to what you speak
I know we'll share those moments
that we both seek

Cause your my girl
I love our world
Your my girl
You love our world

When I sit and watch you move
I begin to smile
Girl you really know
that I love your style

Cause you make me smile
With your natural style
Your my girl
You make my world

But then I begin to make a fuss
about the little things you do
I know its only foolish me
I didn't mean to hurt you
But when my anger slows down
I realize I was wrong
You never never do me wrong

When I sit and feel
your caring kiss
I sense the joy in your
tenderness

Cause your my girl
I love our world
Your my girl
You make my world

When I sit and think about
our relationship
I wonder if tomorrow
brings happiness

For my girl
In her tender world
For my girl
In her future world

But then I begin to think about
the dream that I must follow
Girl you're welcome to come along
with this young fellow
But I know your dreams are not the same as mine
I know
I love you
I know
Don't say you love me to please me
I know
I know
I know

"I Know"

My 1st Doctor Who Episode

"Put these electroencephalogram mind wave blockers on the side of your necks," the Doctor tells her new companions. "We just landed on the Planet Melodious."
Ryan, Yaz, and Graham look to each other, a little bit confused, but they do as the Doctor tells them.
"Whatever you do, do not take off or loose your blockers," Doctor Who says emphatically. "The planet Melodious has a will of its own and is famous for controlling the minds of any race foolish enough to land on its surface."
The group of companions look at each other. Wondering what the Doctor has gotten them into this time.
Graham, the elder statesman of the group, decides he should be the one to ask the first question.
"Doc, if this planet Melodious can control minds, tell us why we are landing on it again?"
"Well," the Doctor starts to say, looking up into the air, thinking what she will say next.
A big smile crosses her face and she says to the group, "Because I have never been here before."

After the Tardis lands, the Doctor runs to the door and sticks her head outside for a peak.
"Come on then. Nothing to worry about as long as we keep our blockers on," she tells everyone.
The group of companions look to each other, shake their shoulders up and down one at a time while looking at each other, then head to the door.
Yaz is the next one to come out of the Tardis, after the Doctor and asks her, "What will happen if we loose our mind wave blockers?"
"See those creatures over there, wiggling back and forth," she answers, as she points to three strangely form oval blobs jiggling like lumps of jello. "Those are the Gelatins. An advance race of interstellar travelers. And rumor has it, they have been here, on this planet, for a thousand of your Earth years, doing the Melodious Dance Ritual."
"Dance Ritual?" Graham asks as he is the next companion to come out of the Tardis.
"The planet Melodious loves to hear music," the Doctor explains. "Once a creature lands on its surface, Melodious scans the creature's mind for the kind of music it likes to listen to. Then the planet puts the creature's favorite songs in a continuous loop inside its brain, where the creature can think of nothing else until it dies."
Then Ryan comes stumbling out of the Tardis, falls flat onto his face, and his mind wave blocker falls off.
Instantly, before Ryan can even move, a song pops up in his head and all he can hear or do, is listen to his favorite tunes over and over again.

"Oh this is bad, this is very bad," says the Doctor. "Ryan is in a song loop."
"What can we do?" Asks a frighten Yaz.
The Doctor takes out her sonic screwdriver and scans Ryan.
"Oh this is worst than I thought." The Doctor tells the other two companions. "It turns out, Ryan likes electric disco pop songs and those songs are just as evil mind controllers as the planet Melodious is. Those songs will never let go of a person's mind even with the blockers!"
"Get him back into the Tardis," screams the Doctor. "Maybe if we fly off this world, the connection with Melodious will be severed."
The Doctor takes no chances and sets the Tardis controls for a Spacetime earlier then their landing on the musical mind controlling planet.
They materialize on Earth just a few minutes after they took off originally. Then everyone looks to Ryan who was face down on the Tardis' floor.
"What am I doing down here?" Ryan asks. "Did the Doc have one of her ruff takeoffs again?"
The Doctor, Yaz, and Graham all laugh at Ryan, but its a laugh of relief that there friend is alright.
   But wait.
After Ryan stands up, looking a little embarrassed, he starts to sing, "I crashed my car into the bridge! I don't care, I love it! I don't care!"
He begins the strangest kind of dancing any earthling has ever seen.
"Is he all right?" Graham asks the Doctor.
"Let me think, let me think," says the Doctor as she spins around in place, looking inside the Tardis for anything that might help her.
Yaz has an idea and tells the Doctor, "Why don't we drown out the music loop inside of Ryan's brain by playing a song which has more bite to it. Playing it as loud as we can."
The Doctor stops spinning perfectly in front of Yaz and says, "Brilliant!" On the center console, Doctor Who starts pushes a few buttons, pulls on a few leavers, and a classic rock n' roll song blasts throughout the Tardis.

Ryan stops his awkward dancing, shakes his head a couple of times and asks, "What happen? Why am I so tired?"
Graham comes over to Ryan, puts his arm around him, and asks, "What did do with the money your Grandma gave you for dance lesson?"
Everyone laughed except for Ryan who looked completely baffled.

Try Listening For Once

This
Re-Post
is from
October 1st, 2015
called
Listening.
Everyone from my
Wife,
Kids,
and assorted
Relatives,
have told me I have gone back to my old ways.
So,
as a reminder to myself,
I went back
and
Re-Posted
this story to help me from being annoying!

*****
I haven't always been like this.
I used to be a good listener.
I could listen to a song by a rock band,
and I could tell you what key they were in,
how many guitars were being overdubbed to create the song,
and what chords were being played.
In my
"Middle Ages,"
the period of my life between
35 and 55 years old,
when I finally figure out how to talk
and listen to people properly,
I became a
"Salesman."
Making a pretty good living for my family
and I.
My problem today is,
it took only about one year to forget how to listen to people properly!
Now,
I want people to listen to me,
hearing what I have to say.
When someone speaks,
I always seem to anticipate what they are going to say
or what they are talking about before they finish
and interrupt.
If you know someone like this,
you know how annoying they can be.
This is what I have become,
that person.
I blame a number of changes in my life for losing the skill of
"Attentive Listening."
See the source image
If I had to pick one major reason why I lost the skill,
it would have to be impatience.
I am no longer patient with people when I would rather be doing something else,
like reading,
taking my nightly walks,
working on a new story,
or writing on my
Blog.
In life,
you must be able to take
"Constructive Criticism"
from the people you trust
and learn to grow as a human being.
This will bring happiness in your life when you work on the flaws you feel you have
and improve on them.
So,
starting today,
right after I'm bailed out of
Jail
for not getting out of my car
and assuming the position when the the
Sheriff
told me to,
I am going to relearn the skill of,
"Attentive Listening."
Because,
I am definitely sure,
that the
Judge
will not look too kindly on me during the
Arraignment,
when he asks me a question
and I say,
"What?"

This is,
I Do Have This Flaw,
But I Did Not Get Arrested,
I Am Just Trying To Be Funny,
