SEATTLE -- It might not be considered a glamorous job, but Micah Speir loves what he does for a living. "I'm not at a desk," said the Waste Management worker, who has been driving a garbage truck for four years. "It might get repetitive sometimes, but you've always got to pay attention to everything around you. Cars, bikes, pedestrians." And thanks to Speir's attention to detail, a Seattle school will not have to worry about trying to recoup nearly $12,000 dollars in checks that were accidentally dropped near some trash cans. "I noticed there was scattered trash and that's what I was going to pick up," said Speir. "And lo and behold it was something more than scattered trash." Speir carefully picked up all the checks, along with a deposit bag and deposit slip. They were made out to Lawson Elementary School in the Magnolia neighborhood. Speir called principal Dorian Manza. "It was kind of a little bit of a panic, and a frenzy - 'Oh gosh, how many checks did we lost,'" recalled Manza. He and Speir made arrangements to rendezvous somewhere along the garbage hauler's route. When Speir handed over the deposit bag, all of the checks were there, and Manza was grateful. "I told him, 'I know you have a tough job, you went above and beyond. I tried to give him a tip with my own money but he said, 'No sir, I can't do that. I won't do that,'" Manza remembers. Speir said his only thought was to reunite those checks with the school. "It felt really good, but at the same time I was just making sure I did the right thing--getting their funds back to them," Speir said. School officials say a PTA board member accidentally dropped the bag along the garbage truck driver's route. Waste Management supervisors are proud of their driver and say it's just one example of how much employees care about their customers and their community. Collecting trash for a living, he says, can bring surprises at a moment's notice. "It's not dull at all. There's never a dull moment being a garbage man."
Today,
I had to put up a heart warming
"Human Interest Story"
on this Blog because of my hatred for
ISIS
and the Post I wrote yesterday.
I believe,
for every doggone hater there is in this World,
we have one person equally as good in quality as a human being.
What I'm saying is,
when you have an
Adolf Hitler
who causes pain
and suffering,
you will also have a
Mother Teresa
helping to ease the pain of those who suffer.
Since people can only be moved
or motivated by stories of extraordinary feats of human actions,
be they good or bad,
today's media hardly ever promotes the average human interest story.
But,
what I believe,
there is a straight line that represents good
and evil.
On the extreme left is a Mother Teresa.
On the extreme right is an Adolf Hitler.
And the closer you get to the middle is where the majority of people lie.
Sometimes,
one side
or the other will have a heavier load of good
or bad people,
but like a seesaw,
either side always has its ups
and downs.
This is,
Always Looking For The Upside,

And,
“Climb up the stairs cheerfully, climb down the stairs cheerfully! Let your mind be unaffected by the ups and downs of life!”

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

P.S.
I couldn't let it just past by without saying anything.
Did you see where the school Principle said,
"Oh gosh, how many checks did we lost?"
Somebody should teach him some proper grammer!
