About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Magic

Magic:
1. the art that, by use of spells, supposedly invokes supernatural powers to influence events;
2. the art of producing illusions as entertainment by the use of sleight of hand, deceptive devices, etc.;

The first definition of the word
"Magic"
refers,
more to the belief in Witchcraft
and Sorcery.
Everything from the Shaman,
to today's Wicca.
From Black "Magic" Spells
and Incantations to the White side of "Magic."

What I want to talk about is the second definition.
Now, that is something I believe in.
And I enjoy it too!
There is a lot of Street Magic on television these days.
Again,
I'll use the phrase,
"Everything from"
The Carbonaro Effect to Pop TV's Don't Blink series.
Today's Magicians,
in my opinion,
are so much better,
then even 20 years ago,
that I am,
once again,
entertained.
Every Magician has heard the phrase,
"How did you do that?"
And there has been TV Shows like,
Fox's Breaking the Magician's Code
and when
Penn & Teller
used to show how tricks were performed on their show.
(Sorry, I can't remember the name of their show.)
But I don't really want to know how it is done,
it's just a natural question
that comes to a person's mind
when they are amazed.
I want to be entertained and good Magic Tricks will do that.
We all know they are tricks,
but it's still a lot of fun,
and sometimes astounding!
Some Magicians still use the old street games like
"Find the Ball in the Three Cups"
and
"Three Card Monty."
So,
I guess some
"Hustles"
will never die.
But,
if Street Magicians are not using their skills to rip people off,
hey,
being amazed is a lot of fun.

This is,
Pick A Card,
Any Card,
Jim Hauenstein,

And,

"I don't believe in the kind of magic in my books.
But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book."

That is my story and I am sticking to it!
