About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

How Dependent Have I Become?

I can tell you that I am not as dependent as I was in the early days of the computer age.
I got my first computer in 1990.
Nine years after
Windows 1
was released.
The operating system I was using was 3.1,
which meant I had to upgrade to
Windows 95
when it came out.
WinWorld: Windows 3.0 / 3.1 3.1
Anyone under the age of 20 has no idea what we had to go through in those dinosaur days.
We actually had to pay a monthly fee for a web browser.
And I am talking about long befor
 AOL
came along.
During the 1990s I would hack into different software companies because I never wanted to pay for anything.
Everything back then had a back door.
I did it because I needed my money to raise my seven children.
We all know how expensive that can be.
Not complaining,
just stating a fact.
I remember starting out one
Sunday Morning
and spending eleven hours before I found a way to back door
AOL
so I could get free internet through them.
I wanted to be a
back when it was still an underground movement.
I used to sign all my emails;
Jim Hauenstein Keep The Internet Free.
When high speed internet came along that all changed.
I did get a discount because I worked at a cable company for almost 20 years,
but it wasn't free.
Besides,
I couldn't risk my job any longer since I kept moving up the ladder because of my computer skills.
Now,
to get to the point of the title.
Ever since I retired I no longer stay up on all the new tech.
If I had,
I would have jumped on learning everything I could on how to make an app for cellphones.
I just don't have it in me anymore.
When the internet stopped working at my house the other day it was harder on my kids than me.
No WiFi,
no Xbox,
no On Demand,
just unlimited data on our cell phones.
Oh the pain.
To stir the imagination of my kids who were bored,
I told them to do what people have been doing since the time of

And,

“A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.”

That is my story and I am sticking to it!
