About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Let's Enter A Renaissance Office Pool

Yesterday,
I wrote how this Blog might become passe after I won the 1.3 billion dollar
Powerball Lottery.
You know,
this lottery thing has been going on a long time.
One of the first,
was held in England.
Story by Chris Carter for Money Week
By 1566, England’s harbors and coastal defenses were looking a little shabby. To fix them, Queen Elizabeth I would either have to raise taxes or hold a glittering prize drawing to raise the money. Selling tickets for the chance to win a prize was nothing new. The idea had been around on the continent for at least a hundred years, where lotteries were sometimes held by merchants looking to shift expensive stock that wasn’t selling. On January 11th, 1569, outside the west wing of the old St Paul’s Cathedral in London, people huddled together against the chill to see what they had won in England’s first state lottery. The event was hardly a runaway success. Less than 10% of the 400,000 tickets had been bought at ten shillings each. If you think that was a bit steep, you could always buy a share of a ticket – a sort of Renaissance office pool. Every ticket was guaranteed a prize. Prizes ranged from silver plates and tapestries to a £5,000 jackpot. Your lottery ticket was a blank piece of paper. On it, you wrote your name and a unique ‘message.’ One ticket that survived from the 1569 lottery read, “God send a good lot for my children and me, which have had 20 by one wife truly.”
It’s probably fair to say,
that guy needed the money.
I just thought of a sure fired way of you winning money instead of wasting time
and what little money you have on the lottery.
All my life,
I have refused to gamble in Las Vegas,
betting on sports.
I'll show you why.
Let's take
NFL Football
for an example.
Last weekend I picked the
Houston Texans
over the
Kansas City Chiefs.
The
Cincinnati Bengals
over the
Pittsburgh Steelers.
Minnesota Vikings
over the
Seattle Seahawks
and the
Washington Redskins
over the
Green Bay Packers.
See where I'm going with this?
Just take all of your life savings out of the Bank,
bet on the opposite teams that I pick,
and we'll split the profits!
How about that for a good deal?
We'll split the profits!
OK,
here are my upcoming picks.
Kansas City Chiefs
over the
New England Patriots.
The
Green Bay Packers
over the
Arizona Cardinals.
The
Seattle Seahawks
over the
Carolina Panthers.
And finally,
the
Pittsburgh Steelers
over the
Denver Broncos.
Bet against my picks,
split the profits with me,
and we'll both become rich!

This is,
Always Looking For That Free Two Bucks,
Jim Hauenstein,

And,

“Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” - Lou Holtz -
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm sad to say, one of my musical Heroes died yesterday. When I was playing bass in the different rock bands through the late 70s and through the 80s, David Bowie was a staple, as far as playing cover songs were concerned, when I played live in clubs.
He will be sorely missed.
A music video off his last CD.
