About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Self Driving Autonomous Cars - Are We Prepared?

This will be my last
Post
on this subject.
I will probably
Re-post
some of my older stories
but I probably won't comment again until I can say
"I Told You So!"
What I am talking about is the
Self Driving Autonomous Cars.
They are coming,
no doubt about it.
But my question is,
"Are we prepared?"
I have been saying for years,
"Given enough time, any computer system can be Hacked!"
Countries do it to each other all the time.
Businesses do it to each other.
And of course we have the
Black Hat Hackers
who do it for a living!

"Well, China not only has people working on such things, it has been discovered they actually managed to take control of two NASA satellites for more than 11 minutes. The successful attacks occurred in 2007 and 2008. The more serious of the two happened in ’08 when NASA had control of the Terra EOS earth observation system satellite disrupted for 2 minutes in June, and then a further 9 minutes in October. During that time, whoever took control had full access to the satellites’ systems, but chose to do nothing with it."
"Hackers from China breached the federal weather network recently, forcing cybersecurity teams to seal off data vital to disaster planning, aviation, shipping and scores of other crucial uses, officials said. The intrusion occurred in late September but officials gave no indication that they had a problem until Oct. 20, said three people familiar with the hack and the subsequent reaction by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which includes the National Weather Service. Even then, NOAA did not say its systems were compromised."
And not to be outdone.

"The Stuxnet virus that ravaged Iran's Natanz nuclear facility "was far more dangerous than the cyberweapon that is now lodged in the public's imagination," cyber security expert Ralph Langer writes in Foreign Policy. Stuxnet, a joint U.S.-Israel project, is known for reportedly destroying roughly a fifth of Iran's nuclear centrifuges by causing them to spin out of control."

 The
Cyber Bomb
of the future will be to take over the
GPS Satellite
controlling the
Self Driving Autonomous Cars
making these vehicles turn into each other,
drive off a cliff,
or drive into a body of water!
Nothing too serious,
unless you are in one of these vehicles.
They will not be safe until the whole world has to use them.

That is my story and I am sticking to it!
