If you have seen my
Twitter Account,
or my
TwoBuck Howie,
you will have noticed that I have been voting for books on the
PBS's
PBS's
There are
One Hundred Books
to choose from
and I could not decide on just one book.
I have voted for seven books so far that I believe are worthy of being number one.
Everything from
1984,
to
trilogy.
But how could I not vote for one of my favorite books of all time.
Especially on the day it was released back in 1979!
“My doctor says that I have a malformed public-duty gland and a
natural deficiency in moral fibre,” Ford muttered to himself, “and that I
am therefore excused from saving Universes.”
There was a
back in
1981
which was broadcast on
PBS
in the
United States.
"A common mistake that people make when trying to design something
completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete
fools."
Then there was a major motion picture in
2005.
"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he
was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the
wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done
was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the
dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than
man — for precisely the same reasons."
And once you read the first one,
there are five more books in the series.
“Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.”
You can even buy the books in other languages!
“Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.”
Well,
I hope I have at least influenced you into going to
to check out
and vote for your favorite books.
