Words I will regret for the rest of my life.
I mean, words Ponleak, the Man from Mars will regret for all of his life.
It is beginning to be impossible to distinguish between what he felt during his days on Atlantis and how I feel inside, thinking it is I who has lived his life. The reverie of his past is so strong inside me, that I believe it was my past that I am reliving. It is coming to the point where I can't distinguish whose life I have lived and which is the dream. I know I must end this soon, or become lost between two existences. Lost inside Ponleak's memories and my own.
But I cannot stop dreaming now. I need answers. If nothing else, but to find out what Ponleak meant when he told me that he thought the amulet might have had something to do with destroying Atlantis.
The second, and I am using Earth's measurement of time, the second Chairman Vithu said, "I was hoping you would say that," Guards attacked from all sides, with their electric type cattle prods.
I understood the moment the attack became apparent in my dream, that Security Chief Ponleak was ill prepared.
These Guards were not the Security Forces under my command, I mean under the command of the Man from Mars, but were Special Forces assigned specifically to protect all of the Board Members from rioters or any other kind of outside threat.
Somehow, Chairman Vithu had corrupted these Guards. Turning them against their original oath of protecting all Board Members, and turning them into his own personal army.
And when they attacked, they just didn't come after me, they came after the Members who were shaking their heads in agreement with me. When I had made my speech about the apathy in the population of Atlantis. Hoping to change the mindset of the Chairman and most of the Board Members.
I could see these Board Members were helpless, being electrocuted where they stood or sat.
Not a sign of mercy in the faces of Vithu's Guards as they attacked.
I was protected of course, through the power of magnetism coming from the amulet. As one Guard after another tried to poke his prod at me, it was deflected back at himself or someone standing next to him. In effect, when enough of them came at me at the same time, they electrocuted one of their own.
I am not a Physicist or claim to be Scientist to any extent of the word. I am a Investigative Journalist, playing out a roll inside a dream, that Security Chief Ponleak once lived through. I didn't want to waste time trying to understand magnetism and electricity, and how they interacted or didn't interact in this case, because of my fear of losing myself in the life of Ponleak. I wanted to find out what happened on Atlantis and why Ponleak and his crew came to Earth those millions of years ago.
I tried to move to the nearest Board Members, to try and extend my shield of magnetism around them, to save as many as I could, when I heard a scream. The scream, that I could feel, change Ponleak forever.
I don't think Ponleak was in love with his assistant, but he cared deeply for her. And it was Nary who screamed. She was being electrocuted because of her association with me. I mean, with Ponleak.
For no other reason, she had been deemed guilty and sentenced to death by Chairman Vithu, because of her association with me.
I exploded with such anger and hatred that I would have to guess, at least the closes twenty-five to thirty Guards had their electronic prods explode in their hands.
Some of them lost a limb, some only a couple of fingers, but all were bleeding and had a scared look on their faces.
I would imagine, most of the Guards were thinking right about now, that they hadn't signed up for this. This, they were probably told, was going to be an easy killing and none of them were possibly going to get hurt.
All the while this was going on, I could hear the voice of Chairman Vithu shouting, "Attack Ponleak. Attack him. He can't possibly stop you all!"
Then, when I saw the limp, lifeless body of Nary fall to the floor, and three Guards continuing to prod her with their electric rods, I looked for Vithu for my revenge.
I looked to where I heard his voice. Where he kept on reciting his only message of, "Attack Ponleak. Attack him."
He was not a fool. All the time he was broadcasting his orders, he was slowly backing himself into a doorway for his escape. In case things did not go as planned I assume.
And things were not going as he planned and as soon as he saw me look his way, he quickly moved behind the door and closed it.
With a concentrated effort, of shooting a magnetic pulse his way, I exploded the door outwards, but somehow I knew I had missed my target.
I tried following Vithu through his escape hatch but some of the more foolish Guards must have felt some kind of loyalty to the Chairman because they blocked my way.
I could have, wait, there I go again. It wasn't me in that situation, it was Ponleak. The Man from Mars. He could have easily bulldozed his way through the line of Guards blocking his way to Chairman Vithu, but at that very moment he received a call on a telepathic implant. A calling system which each Atlantian can turn off and on at will inside their mind.
"Vice President Ponleak. This is Security Officer Bopha." One of my personally trained special forces agent said. "Guards from the Members of the Board's elite security team have attacked your compound for the exploration of space. They were easily dispatched as a fighting unit by our security team, but a group of five to seven Guards have taken several scientists hostage, in the main office building of scientific study. They say they will kill all the hostages unless they see that you have relinquished power, have all of your special units surrender to the Guard, and that the amulet is handed over to Chairman Vithu. What are your orders sir?"
It took a second for me to respond, only after the feeling of hatred towards Vithu diminish so I could think clearly.
"Wait for me. I'll be there shortly." I barked out my orders. "Do not let anyone in or out of those offices and no one is allowed to communicate further with the Guards. I'll be the one doing the negotiations."
With that, I sent a large magnetic pulse throughout the Board Member's chamber, effectively destroying the last electric rods still in use in the room.
I heard screams of pain and grief from the Guards who were still holding onto to those rods when they exploded. Not caring what kind of hurt I put on those fools, as I left the building.
