About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Privacy?

Remember when
Privacy
meant something in your family?
Did your
Parents
ever tell you not to give out personal information over the telephone?
Were you told not to give your true name
or location to someone on the
Internet,
on your
PlayStation,
or
Xbox?
Or do you tell your children about these precautionary tales?
You probably have heard that
Facebook
sells your information to all kinds of
Tracking Companies
so these
Companies
can send you advertisement that will influence your
Purchasing Power,
Voting,
and even your
Charitable Contributions.
Let me tell you something,
Facebook
is not the only one.
companies do the same thing.
Oh,
and those little apps you like put on your phone for fun,
like
Angry Birds & Candy Crush,
they steal your information right off your phone!
Seemingly simple mobile games made us all way too comfortable with giving away our personal information.
By     For Vox.com
"The way mobile games collect information about their users, and the details of what type of information they’re collecting, remains incredibly opaque. To some extent, Rovio and its peers may not even know exactly what they’re collecting about their users or how the data is being exploited, thanks to the way software has evolved in the smartphone era. Mobile games are full of other companies’ code, a more efficient way of creating something cheap and functional and cute than building it from scratch. The fact that it’s all so confusing is kind of the point, obviously. And as a result, mobile games have escaped the level of scrutiny we’ve applied to social media companies, despite being — as a category — nearly equally popular and far more likely to be used by children."
How can these developers do this you might ask?
It's all in the
The End-User Licensing Agreement.
When was the last time you read one of these?
Never right?
Sorry to burst your bubble on your cellphone
but if try turning off all the
Tracking
and
Data Mining
your phone does of your information,
nothing will work!
It's in the
EULA.
You can
your phone,
but I can't promote anything that might be illegal
or,
if you do it incorrectly,
damage your phone.
That's up to you to decide.

About that privacy thing I thought we had when I was a kid.
Remember the
White Pages?
That big book of phone numbers
and addresses that you had to pay not to be included?
And what about the
They have been selling your current
and new addresses,
if you move,
to companies,
since their inception.
How do you think those companies,
who send you all that junk mail,
know your name?
For a dollar I am able to look up your complete history as long as I can accurately spell your name
and know the city you are currently living in.
On some search engines I just need your name
but they charge a little more since they will bring up everyone with the same name.
Privacy?
To the true meaning of the word,
I don't think we ever had it.
And in the future?
I believe we will have even less of it.

This is,
I Know Where You Live
Jim Hauenstein,

And,

“Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”
- Edward Snowden -

That is my story and I am sticking to it!
