Text Messages I Send To My Kids

I am sure that I am not the only

Parent

who sends his kids text messages since most of them live so far away.

I send the usual birthday

and holiday greetings.

Inspirational quotes.

I even send the word of the week on

Sundays.

What I really enjoy are my humorous texts.

 

"Jimmy said they put expiration dates on cans because they can!" That joke went right over my head.

 

Department stores have come out with a new size for their clothing line that fits me perfectly. The label reads; XL-LOL

 

Someone asked me if I knew anything about capitalism. I said sure. The first letter of the first word in a sentence is capitalized.

 

I haven't played music in front of an audience in over 30 years. But I was recognized today. The clerk behind the counter at Walgreens said, "I know you." I smiled from ear to ear and asked, "You do?" He shook his head yes and said, "You were in here yesterday."

I have a great idea to counter the toilet paper shortage due to the pandemic. It will make my butt smell good too! Dryer Sheets!

I just thought up a new drinking game. While watching Criminal Minds, every time someone gets murdered, we drink!

Did you know that the city of Dublin in Ireland is the fastest growing city in Europe? Yes, it keeps doublin' and doublin' and doublin'!

 

Did you hear about the rash of pedicure salons getting rob? They are calling it "Clip-Toe-Mania!"

I was texted this question.

Father, what rock group has four men who don't sing? I don't know, I texted back. The answer, Mount Rushmore!

They Inspire Me

After my big speech in my last

Post

on how I was going to be all motivated

and start writing inspired stories again,

I would say that I came down with a really good case of writers block.

I didn't want to keep waiting for inspiration to come so I could start writing,

so I am going to put up some inspiring stories from the internet.

"It's pretty amazing to find something that's like real, like an actual dinosaur discovery," he told CNN. "It's kind of been my dream for a while."

Michigan woman living in Illinois travels 300 miles to vote 

DETROIT (AP) — A 94-year-old woman who has been caring for a sister in Illinois traveled nearly 300 miles to Detroit to cast an absentee ballot in the fall election. “I wanted to make sure my vote counted,” Mildred Madison said Monday. “This was very easy. I could sit in my wheelchair.” Madison said she decided to go to Detroit after her August primary ballot arrived late. She traveled from the Chicago area with a son and daughter.  “Vote because your life depends on it,” Madison told FOX 2 Detroit. “And this year it truly depends on it that you vote. Not only for you but for your children and their children."

Sometimes, It Just Isn't Necessary

Over the years I have had many excuses why I have missed a few days writing on this

Blog.

Sick,

vacations,

family,

and so on.

Lately though,

the reason is,

Google

has ruined a good thing.

It is so discouraging to

Post

stories on here after they took away one of my favorite techniques.

Embedding musical videos.

I can no longer put up music I wrote.

It wasn't like I did it everyday.

That would be redundant

and people would get tired of seeing the same thing over & over.

But I do need to keep writing here so I can keep getting better at this craft.

I enjoy writing

and I have seen progress in my abilities since I started.

If I didn't,

I would have found something else to do to occupy my time.

Forgive me for whining so much about

Blogger

but I really had to get this off my chest.

I'm going to find new ways to motivate myself so I can keep on

writing

and fight though this disappointing new format.

Educing Information

I came across an interesting quote recently.

of 1975.

A key witness

and the author of a master spy plan prepared for

President Richard M. Nixon

in 1970.

He testified about what can happen when inappropriate intelligence-collection methods are adopted by the government.

Educing Information: Interrogation: Science and Art.

I was researching how torture doesn't work

and the article talks about how governments shouldn't spy on their own people.

Imagine that!

The article is an interesting read.

One of the best interrogators of all time,

WWII.

He never asked prisoners questions about military strategy

but just became their friends.

Like I said many times before,

people love to talk about themselves if there is someone there to listen!
