Traveling around the country this past summer I noticed that almost every large city I ventured into have these
"Electric Scooters"
lying around.
They are on sidewalks
and on the city streets.
First,
a couple of facts.
These facts are solely based of what I know of the
Califonia Law,
since that is where I live.
The number one thing people should know about driving these
Scooters
in the
Golden State
is,
you have to have a
California Driver's License
to be driving one.
The second thing is,
under the law,
you must be wearing a helmet.
Which no one does.
Third,
you are supposed to be driving them on the street,
not on the sidewalks.
Of course,
we have all seen people riding these things without helmets
and on the sidewalks.
The basic problem with these violations are,
The Police Are Not Enforcing The Law!
Since this is a realative new industry,
there are not a lot of statistics yet on how many deaths per year there are
but there are a growing number of accidents according to the

An investigation by Consumer Reports has revealed that there have been at least 1,545 accidents in the US involving electric scooters over the past year. Lime (founded January 2017) and Bird (founded April 2017) have been the
main players in e-scooter rental, although big ride-sharing companies
like Uber and Lyft have been jostling to access the market as well.

Andrew Hardy was crossing the street on an electric scooter in
downtown Los Angeles when a car struck him at 50 miles per hour and
flung him 15 feet in the air before he smacked his head on the pavement
and fell unconscious. The 26-year-old snapped two bones in each
leg, broke a thighbone, shattered a kneecap, punctured a lung and
fractured three vertebrae in his neck, in addition to sustaining a head
injury. “My brother thought I was dead,” said Hardy, who wasn’t wearing a helmet. Doctors
told Hardy he’d likely be paralyzed for life. Five months later, he has
learned to walk again. But he says he’ll never ride another scooter.
Companies like

have apps you need to download on your smartphone before you can use their product.
