I'm at that age where I go to more funerals than weddings.
Of course I get invited to my children's, niece's, nephew's, grandchildren's,
and pretty soon,
if I am as fortunate to live as long as my
Dad,
who will be 96 this year,
I will be going to my great grandchildren's weddings.
It sounds like a lot but compared to
2 to 3
funerals per year,
it's not even close.
You always feel you have more time with loved ones until the
Grim Reaper
sneaks up on one of your family members.

Enough of my morbid train of thought.

The only thing I enjoy when someone dies is when family
and friends get together
and tell their favorite stories about the deceased.
I got to tell my family about how I met my wife, where we went on our honeymoon,
and some of my favorite moments I got to share with my wife.
Then I got to hear stories told by other people.
I was smiling ear to ear listening to everyone.
If I were you,
I would gather all my loved ones together this coming weekend
and start telling your favorite stories about each person.
You will be amazed when everyone joins in
and tell their stories.

And,
“A musician is similar to someone who wrote a letter to a loved one. They decided to read read it out loud instead of sending it.”

That is my story and I am sticking to it!
