About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Five Best Posts Of January, 2018

I cannot believe it's
March
already,
2018!
February is such a short month that it feels like the year is flying by.
Normally,
I would have done the
Five Best Post Of January, 2018
on the last day of
February,
but it went by so fast that I completely forgot to do it.
So I don't bore you to death any longer with my winded verbiage,
here are
The Five Best Posts Of January, 2018!
Yeah!
Ladies & Gentlemen!
It's a tie!
The Fifth Best Posts Of The Month Of January, 2018 Are:
The Man From Mars
and
My continuing Serial of the trials and tribulations of my main character, George, and what he goes through when he is given an amulet from a man claiming to be from Atlantis. Or, as George quickly learns, a man claiming to be from Mars. In Episode Thirty Four there is a mention of a Paul Cézanne painting.

The Fourth Best Post Of The Month Of January Is:
The Fuhrer's Medallion
The first chapter of an eBook I am about to publish. Hoping I can entice readers to purchase the book for 99 cents after reading the first two chapters.

The Third Best Best Post Of January Is:
The Man From Mars
Again, the continuing saga of the hero of the story, George, and what he has to go through, while learning what kind of power the amulet holds. Who his allies are and who are his enemies.

The Second Best Post Of January Is:
My reply to some of the Comments left behind on some of my Posts. Mostly people who like to back-end their Comments with advertisements, but still, at least people from other countries are looking at what I write.

The Number One Best Post Of The Month Of January, 2018 Is:
My futuristic look at marriages and how they will only happen with a Prenuptial Contract, not only dividing personal property between a couple, but for how many years the couple will stay wed. With a twist at the end of course.

Being Important

This still holds true today as it did on
July 9th, 2015
Post
called
Be Important.
*****
Today,
I awoke from my afternoon beauty sleep,
or nap,
with the television on.
When my brain cleared the haze it was in,
I noticed a commercial about an
"Online South Carolina College,"
and their statement,
which I'll quote,
since it sounds so official if you quote something
or someone,
"America was built by people with a good education and hard work."
Or something like that.
According to
Randye Hoder,
from
website,
here comes another quote,
"The job market is, after all, awfully tough. Just this month the Federal Reserve Bank of New York released a study showing that “recent graduates are increasingly working in low-wage jobs or working part-time, if they’re lucky enough to find work at all."
More quoting.
"The bright spot, according to the Fed analysis, is for students who majored in STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — areas in which recent graduates “have tended to do relatively well, even in today’s challenging labor market."
Wasn't it just about 5 years ago that the
"Fed"
said that the job market was opening up for
Graduates
in the
Service Industries?
Especially the
Dental
and
Medical fields?
The job market changes constantly over the years as the
World Economy
changes it needs.
The
Industrial Revolution
has been over for decades
and anyone who believes he
or she can find a job,
keep a job,
and work at a job for
40 to 45 years then retire,
is poorly informed about society today.
Plan on having 5 to 10 jobs in your lifetime.
Everything from working at a
Mini-Mart,
to a
Fast Food Franchise,
to eventually landing a job in the field that you graduated college for.
But the process doesn't stop there.
You need to make yourself more important,
to the company you work for,
in the field you work in,
and for any future economic
or social changes,
that could enhance your field of expertise.
Or,
stay ahead of the curve,
in case someone decides to eliminate the field you're working in.
This applies to any job at any level.
From the
Mechanic,
to the
Lawyer.
It doesn't matter.
You need to keep on learning.
"The top One Percent, who control over a third of the Wealth in this Country, according to the Federal Reserve in an article by Dave Roos on the website HowStuffWorks, sees the influx of young, energetic, new employees as a way of trimming salaries by firing long time productive workers and hiring these newbies at a lower wage. They will trim the fat, as they say, by overhauling employees from middle management on down to the part time employee who has accumulated vacation time, a wage increase, and have a chance of being vested where you get a retirement plan because you worked at a place for so many years."
The best example of how corporate greed has figured out how to circumvent paying benefits to employees
or even paying their fair share to the
State Unemployment Fund
is a company called
Domino's Pizza Inc.
They will hire 30 part-time employees at a time,
give them about 10 hours of work per week,
and after three to four months,
fire that group so they don't have enough accumulated time,
under State law,
to collect unemployment!
In my opinion,
and I lived by this motto,
keep learning new things by going to school no matter what age you are.
Stay ahead of the game as far as your chosen field is concerned,
by learning what is on the horizon for that field.
Keep updating your resume.
Even while you are when working.
Look for a higher paying job elsewhere that you feel would suit your needs better.
Be an innovator,
and never fall into complacency.
Remember,
there are always 10 new college grads eager for your job!

Electric Piano

Normally,
on
Sunday,
I would be writing about the new
Followers
who have signed up
or I would be
Commenting
on the
Comments
left this week.
But,
my son,
with my help,
just purchased a new toy
and I am excited to play with it,
as he is.
So,
I guess,
I will have to write something tomorrow,
because today is for playing

The Man From Mars - Episode Forty

I am not sure when it happened to me, but I noticed it when Tiny, or Phuc, which he asked me never to call him again, told me to get into the shower and clean up. He said he would take of the mess out here, in the bedroom.
I asked where here was and he said, "It's a safe house that Ponleak and I have used for years, but has obviously been compromised."
   "You mean Akela." I said.
"Yes." He replied. Adding, "You need to hurry. I'm sure Akela, somehow, got a message to Bopha about our location."
After I left Tiny to clean up his mess, and went into the bathroom to shower. I found toiletries waiting for me inside the lavatory. I decided to shave first.
That is when my mind started going through this perplexing dilemma. I couldn't stop thinking about it. When did I become impassive or indifferent to death?
Sure, just like everyone who has a few years of life under their belt, I have been to a few funerals, of family and of friends.
In my job, as an investigative reporter, I have covered stories of Mob hits and Serial killers. I've seen the aftermath of family squabbles turn deadly. Best friends getting inebriated and one turns up in the morgue. But never, not once, did I ever not feel remorse and or pity for the victims and their families.
   Until now.
As looked into the mirror, to watch my hand swash the lather away from my face with the razor, I remembered seeing Akela's eyes.
It was right after the point where I thought she was going to put a bullet in the back of my head after I had fallen flat on my face again.
I was lying there when I heard a thud. Looking with my peripheral vision, I could see Akela's dead eyes staring at me. Her face expressionless.
But I tried to get right up, with the help from Tiny, not even caring that the woman was dead.
Was it because I knew she had it in for me? That if she had gotten the drop on Tiny, she would have killed me too?
Or, did it have anything to do with carrying the amulet? The untapped power which it is suppose to hold?
   Was it influencing me somehow?
Akela said, that I had no idea of its true potential.
I stopped staring at my face and hopped into the shower. Turning the temperature up as high as I could take it. Trying to relax and soothe every aching bone in my body.
I wanted to burn away the guilty feeling I had, for not having any remorse over the death of the Atlantean woman.
With my head down and the hot water spraying against the back of my neck, my senses perked up when I started hearing voices in the other room that I didn't recognize.
They were speaking briskly, in a language I couldn't quite identify, at first. Then it hit me. It was three distinct Filipina women, talking Tagalog, at a hundred miles an hour!
I turned off the shower, dried off, put the amulet around my neck, and quickly got dressed.
I wasn't sure what was going on, so I barely cracked the door. Just enough, so I could take a peak, and see what was going on in the bedroom.
Tiny was standing in the middle of the room, watching these three small women work.
If you would have put one on top of the other, you might have gotten a fourteen foot person.
   Barely.
   Maybe.
If the one on the bottom stood on her tippy-toes.
   But all, were working vigorously.
One woman wiped down everything for fingerprints. One vacuumed the carpet, then the curtains, and even had an attachment to vacuum-brush the bedroom walls. The last was bagging up Akela. All by herself. With no help from Tiny.
When I came out from the bathroom, none of the women paid any attention to me.
They just kept working and talking to each other in Tagalog. With their voices getting louder and louder. As each one competed with the others to be heard.
When the noise started getting too loud, Tiny said, "Ladies." Emphasizing the last syllable and raising it in pitch.
Each immediately stopped talking and turned to face him, smiling. Looking like a pack of animals, which were just called to attention, and hoping to receive a treat.
After a moment of silence, each went back to their duties. Once again, talking to each other in one of the many dialects of Tagalog, at a hundred miles per hour.
By the time I reached the side of Tiny, the women's voices were rising in pitch again, and getting louder. Before I could say a word to him, he again said, "Ladies."
They immediately proceeded to perform the same act as before.
Then, busting through the bedroom door, an excited thirty-something Filipino male looks to Tiny and says, "They're here."
With that, all three women pulled out the biggest butcher knives that I have ever seen. From somewhere, hiding on their person.
Where they hid them? I do not know. But all three seem very capable and prepared to use them.

   To Be Continued.....

Next Week.

Making It About Them

I have been thinking about this subject for awhile.
I was going to try to write something for the last couple of days,
but the idea perplexed me so much,
that I never wrote a word.
So today,
I thought,
I will just start writing on my observation
and hopefully,
it will make sense in the end.
It's about people who make everything about themselves.
I'll give you a couple of examples to help you understand what I am talking about.
"I was talking to this lady the other day and she told me that her boyfriend always turns everything around, and makes it about him. She told me, that on Sunday, that she had injured her wrist. She wouldn't tell me how, but I suspect the worst. She then said that her boyfriend kept whining about how her injury was a heavy burden on him and how he was now having a bad day because of it."
This,
next example,
always upset me.
"A few years back, I was at a funeral, where the older sister of the person who died got up during the, "The Friends & Family Reflection Time" of the service, and started talking about how this hurt her! How the death of a family member was such a strain on her and how it was such a burden that she might never get over it."
The portion of the funeral,
when people are asked to speak about their relationship to the decease,
is supposed to be about,
Saying Your Condolences To The Immediate Family,
and
The Wonderful Moments You Shared With That Person.
Not how this hurts you,
the living.
We are all grieving in our own way.
I know,
a
Sister
is the immediate family.
What I am referring to is the
Husband
and the
Children.
Condoling them!
Trying to show them how their
Wife
and
Mother
will always be remembered for the wonderful person she was.
Not listen to someone complain on how this death was a selfish act,
and how it was going to put a burden on her life!
See the source image
Why am I talking about this?
It is easy.
I,
myself,
try not to associate with these kinds of people.
No matter what they tell you,
they are always unhappy.
They are always miserable complainers,
who want to bring you down to their sorrowful existence.
It upset me,
when it was obvious,
that the woman I gave a ride to on
Sunday Morning
was hurting.
She said she didn't need my help,
so I gave her a little piece of advice.
"Maybe it's time you become a little selfish yourself, and think about what makes you happy."
She thanked me
and said she would think about it.
I hope she does.
And I hope you don't mind that I had to get this off my chest.

This is,
Giving Fatherly Advice To Anyone Who Will Listen,
And Anyone I Can Help,

And,

“Manifest plainness, Embrace simplicity, Reduce selfishness, Have few desires.”

Sunday's Comments

After a string of
Comments
from
International Readers,
coming at the end of last year
and into the month of
January
of this year,
the
Praises
and the
Criticisms
of my
Posts
have almost come to a complete halt.
I guess,
even though some of the
was pretty favorably,
most of the time these
Readers
were loading up the back end of their
Comments
with
Advertisements.
The
Ones
who gave no regard for my
Posts,
who obviously never read one word of anything I wrote,
their
Comments
were quickly deleted.
The
Ones
who at least pretended to read my material,
I left their
Comments
up.
But since the middle of
January,
no one left a
Comment
until now.
Not until one of my favorite
Agitators,
I mean
Annotators,
wrote on my
Post
She does
Agitate
me though.
Because I look at her,
as being one of my
Sisters.
Someone who I took in when
She
was down
and out.
Who I helped,
get back on her feet,
but since,
has gone the way of the
Devil's Plan.
And yes,
I am trying to sound like a
Bible Belter.
See the source image
And yes,
I made up that word
Belter
too!
To show you why,
you will have to read what
She
wrote.
Keep those experiences coming I love reading about your adventures into the unknown ... like your literally an instrument letting the Devine put forth thru you!! And Lyft of course ...

can make up the spelling of the word
"Devine,"
I can make up words to express how I feel about her
