About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

My Niece

I want to give my niece,
Stacie,
a little exposure here on my blog.
She is a stage actress in
Chicago.
I guess you would say that she is off,
off
Broadway
and off her rocker too!
Check out her story she wrote that I have on my
Blog.
It's called;
The Walk.
It's located under the
Heading;
Short Stories & Flash Fiction,
on the right hand side of this Post.
So go ahead
and give it a try.
Comment
on it.
Even if you think its better than my material.

What Can I Say?

I didn't take that fork in the road,
which would have taken me,
heading down the path of
Fame And Riches.
Before I go any further,
let me just say,
I am very happy with the life I have had,
and am still having!
Knock on wood.
I have
Seven Wonderful Children,
Thirteen Beautiful Grandchildren,
and
One Great Grand-daughter.
That,
in itself,
is all the riches I'll ever need!
Because,
for a long part of my life,
not even my
Parents
thought that I would
have a
Family.
What I'm trying to say here is,
we all come to those
"Forks in the Road"
during our lives,
and the decisions we make at those intersections,
is never a wrong one.

Regret is the evil speed bump in our roads.
It eats away at any happiness you might have,
if you don't let yourself be content,
with what you have
or where you are in life.
In my life,
I believe,
I had at least three good opportunities,
to get involved,
at some level,
in the
Music Industry.
I'm not foolish enough to think that I could have become a
Rock Star,
or anything like that.
I mean I could have made a living at it.
My first opportunity?
Like most
Musicians
starting out,
I was involved in a local band which would perform on any occasion,
for any price,
around the town we grew up in.
In my opinion,
the four best
Musicians
in our area were playing at a local venue,
so I decided to go see them perform.
The lead singer of the band didn't show up,
so after thirty minutes,
when they were supposed to open,
they asked me if I would sit in
and sing for them.
My choices came down to this.
If I would have sung for that band
and done well,
my local reputation would have grown.
I would have had better opportunities to play with the best local talent around.
If I had failed miserably,
I thought at the time,
that I could have never lived through the humiliation.
So I didn't do it.
If I had,
I probably would have learned so much more about music,
so much quicker,
that I could have played
Professionally
a lot sooner.
Second chance.
I was asked to become a roadie for the band
Cheap Trick
by their road crew manager.
This time around,
I had a full time job,
a steady girlfriend,
and was in a popular local band called
Politixs.
We had a demo being played on the local college radio,
so I felt pretty good about things.
So I chose the safe
and secure way.
I stayed put.
I kept the routine I knew best
and didn't take the roadie job.
The problem was,
nothing ever stays the same in life.
Things are always changing.
It wasn't long afterwards that my girlfriend left me,
the company I worked for laid me off,
the band
Politixs
broke up,
and I totaled my
Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.
All in a two week period.
Third.
The last band I was in,
"Two Buck Howie with the Exact Change,"
decided to cut a professional demo cassette recording before I moved to
California.
I know it's hard to understand what a cassette is,
but
Compact Disks
hadn't even come out yet.
A local
Talent Agent
asked if we were interested in signing with his agency.
He heard a little bit of the demo
and knew me from my days in the band
Politixs.
My problem was,
I already had plans to move to
California.
I took the
Master Recordings
and never told the other guys about the
Agent.
Then I left it all behind
and moved to
Sunny Southern California.
And I would do it all over again,
the same way,
because of
Henrico,
Monchito,
Beverly,
Danielle,
Jamie,
Maryallan,
and
James Jr.
Thank you kids.
I love you all,
and all of your children,
and my
Great Grand-daughter
too!

This is,
Having No Regrets,
Jim Hauenstein,

And,

“I've seen and swam and climbed and lived and driven and filmed. Should it all end tomorrow, I can definitely say there would be no regrets. I am very lucky, and I know it. I really have lived 5,000 times over.”

Saying Hi & Staying Political

Just want to say
Hello
to my good friends
Bob & Tamera.
I hope the next time you visit,
we'll have a little more time together.
It was great seeing you guys.

The last post I put up was kind of
Political.
It was called
The Future Of Torrents.
I have a feeling more of the same is coming.
Especially since it was revealed recently that cell-phone companies like
AT&T
are selling all of your
Personal Information,
Emails,
and
Text Messages,
to the
CIA
for an average of
$10 Million Dollars
per year.
I hear that
Power & Greed
corrupts.
Especially,
Self Righteousness Governments
who pay
Greedy Corporations.
Both could care less about your
Fundamental Rights
as
Citizens!

The Future of Torrents

Actually,
it's your future without
Torrents.
What everyone should be thinking about,
on this very subject,
is the underlining reasons behind the dismantling of the
"Peer to Peer"
web sites called
Torrents.
Even if you have never used one,
the end result of this crackdown going on around the
World,
will eventually affect each of you.
The
"Taking Down"
of these sites is happening pretty much on a regular basis as soon as they can find the owner of each site.
They call these owners
Pirates.
You barely hear about it in today's media since they too are invested in keeping ownership of
Copyrighted Material
as long as they can,
a
Commodity.
Coverage is mostly limited to,
online magazines sites,
such as
"Torrent Freak,"
and chat rooms.
One chat room was recently exposed as being set up by the
U.S. Government
to sucker people into exposing themselves.
I'm going to concentrate on the
Entertainment
side of this issue,
since that is what I consider this
Blog
to be all about.
Entertainment!
But all
Copyrighted Material,
showing up on
Peer to Peer
web sites can be argued for
and against by the
Anti-Torrent Supporters
and by
Torrent Defenders.
Politicians,
Police Forces,
Publishers,
Producers,
Programmers,
and anyone in the
Entertainment Business,
(The MPAA in particular),
would have you believe that if one person is getting
Copyrighted Material
through a
Torrent Website
for free,
that the person who had the idea,
or his
"Intellectual Property"
will be given away to the masses,
that he will starve to death!
I have read where the
MPAA
claims that because of
Piracy,
the
Entertainment Industry
is losing jobs,
that could be saved,
if they could only make more money.
I find that extremely hard to believe.
In a
World
where so many affluent people are trying to build that
"One World Economy,"
(Hollywood types included,)
and the
Republicans
are working for a two class system in
America,
(Consisting of only of the Rich & the Poor),
in all types of
Businesses,
Employers
find it is much easier to double the workload on their existing
Workforce
instead of hiring a new
Employee
when someone retires
or quits.
Getting more work done for the same expense is bringing in higher profits,
but shabby work.
The long term effect of stress on an individual's health
and the related mental
and physical mistakes being made on the quality of work being performed by employees from companies using this tactic,
has yet to be felt in our society.
From what I have read or witnessed personally here in the
U.S.,
companies making more money are looking for further ways to increase their profits by decreasing the hours of full time workers whenever possible.
Eventually,
hoping to employ only part time workers.
When this happens,
these companies won't have to invest in
Employee Health Benefits,
Paid Vacations,
and pouring money into the
Federal & State
mandated
Unemployment Fund.
Higher profits,
higher greed potential,
more money for the rich.
It's working in the
Entertainment Business
just as well.
We are also led to believe by the
MPAA
that the poor coffers of the
Rich and Famous
in
Hollywood
could be a lot fuller if these criminals were incarcerated.
The old adage.
"This would effectively have rich people spending that extra money, stimulating the economy, and helping individuals with lower income when the money trickles down to them. Making everyone's life better."
Thank you
Hollywood!
Always thinking of the little guy.
How sweet.
The heart of the matter is,
the
Entertainment Industry
is losing money.
Not to the
Torrent Websites
like they claim.
The
Entertainment Business,
like all businesses,
need to constantly change with the times.
The
Gaming Industry,
and I am not talking about online
Casinos,
here,
but the new powerhouses like
PlayStation,
Xbox,
Wii,
and all the companies making the games,
all had sales that surpassed the
Music & Movie Industries
combined!
Yes,
combined!
Those two dinosaurs might not be going away anytime soon,
but they are no longer what the future holds as the number one Entertainment Business
in the
World.
I'm not a
Futurist,
but I can pretty much bet with confidence that something will come along replacing
Gaming
as the number one
Entertainment Business
too,
eventually.
It's the same as what is happening to computer sales because of Smart Phones.
We will always need computers,
but not everyone in the
World
needs one.
Since their phone does everything an average person wants.
Back in the
1970's,
the
Music Industry
cried foul when cassette tapes were introduced because they couldn't stop people from recording a tune to give away to their friends.
In the end,
the
Music Industry
made more money by selling cassette tapes of an artist's music along side selling the vinyl version.
People love,
have always loved,
and will always love,
to own a piece of something in their hands.
Not copies.
It takes away the feeling of ownership of something valuable.
The
MPAA
uses a study that they themselves paid for as evidence that piracy hurts everyone,
when others studies have shown the opposite.
It's like the cassette tape incident.
They would have you focusing on the negative aspect of this topic, instead of brainstorming how the change in the industry could benefit the
Hollywood Types
they say they are protecting.
Torrents
didn't ruin the
Music Industry,
it forced
Artists
to write music they could perform live.
It brought back the
Live Concert.
I'm an optimist as far as what the future will bring.
But I'm also a realist at what I see as having more constraints coming coming our way on using the
Internet.
If
Big Brother
gets full control of what can see
and do on the web,
then soon we will all be
Pirates
surfing the
Dark Web.
Otherwise,
you'll have to pay,
Cable,
Satellite,
or
Phone Companies,
to get on the
Government Controlled Internet,
which will force you to pay for a
State License
and
Federal & State Taxes
to use it.
A
License Fee
will have different levels you can pay for,
like companies do now,
and the cost will dramatically increase as your usage goes up.
History has shown us that a few power hungry rich elitists have always felt it necessary
and sometimes their right,
to control the masses by restricting what they can
and cannot do.
Then comes along the reboot in all societies,
where people are fed up with the
1%
and freedom is given back to the people.
But the process slowly repeats itself.
The
1%
always trying to take control.
This is what's happening today.
If someone with the
Authority,
be it
Judicial,
Legislative,
Wealthy Capitalist,
and so on,
notices your website
and doesn't like what you represents
or what your views are,
they will use their influence to outflank you with high price Lawyers,
Judges,
and the
Police,
who see yet another way to show the
City Controllers
how valuable they are,
with all levels of
Politicians
who need the bank roll of the
Capitalist's Support,
to get elected term after term.
So think about it clearly.
Once they outlaw
Free Internet,
because
Torrents
are ruining the economy,
only
Outlaws & Pirates
will get it for free.
You'll be the one paying a lot more money for it,
the one they regulate your usage on,
monitor what you can
and cannot do,
and feed the type of information that someone else has decides is appropriate for your level of
Licenses.

Happy Birthday Dad

Hi all you wonderful people out there in the real world.
I just want to give a sincere
"Happy Birthday"
to my Dad who will be 88 years old on September 30th.
I am petitioning the Federal Government at this very moment to make it a National Holiday.
I haven't heard back from the President yet,
but I'm confident that we will soon have another day off from work to celebrate a meaningful or is it a meaningless Holiday.

Hello Again My Faithful Friends.

I received some interesting news yesterday about self publishing.
If you don't have a well established fan base reading your material,
to an Agent,
it looks as though no one is interested in your work.
You are better off submitting your stories to an agent
and avoid the self publishing route altogether.
Now I have to decide if I'm going to self publish my latest story or shop it around.
The fifteen or so followers that did purchase my last manuscript are expecting a new release soon,
since I told them I would have one coming out this fall.
I would hate to disappoint anyone.
Decisions,
decisions,
decisions.
What should a young droog like myself do with such a confusing conundrum?
Well,
you droogies and droogets,
I'll sleep on it.

My Faithful Companions

My younger sister,
who will remain nameless to protect the innocent,
visited this Blog the other day.
Hallelujah,
a member of my immediate family actually took the time to give me a little support.
Do I sound bitter here?
I hope not.
Well,
I'm not giving my family enough credit.
My sister
and brother
are just now entering the home stretch as far as raising a family goes.
I was the lucky one out of the bunch who was able to retire at the ripe old age of fifty-three.
(Ha-Ha)
I would like to thank my sister,
for taking the time out of her busy schedule,
she's a teacher don't you know,
to visit my Blog and actually comment on it.
Oh,
she didn't comment on the Blog itself.
No,
she had to send me a separate email to tell me what she thought.
What a little trooper!

Send All Your Prayers My Way

“How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap stinking chip-oil?
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly, thou.”

Don't be offended, Oh my brothers.
It's only a way to say hello.
Maybe not the best way, but it is a way.
I have been writing a lot lately.
I'm doing re-writes on some of my old short stories so I can offer them to Sci-Fi and Mystery Magazines.
Hopefully one of the Mags will buy one of them.
I have also been working on a new Fantasy story which I find kind of fun.
Since I'm not really into reading that kind of material I was surprised when I got the idea for the story and how fast the story has progressed.
The last thing I'm working on, is called "Hitler's Medallion."
I've already written 50,000 words for it, but I came across a part in the story that I didn't like.
I've re-written that chapter three times now.
It has finally gotten better.
All I need to do is go over the whole manuscript once more to see if any more re-writes are needed, then I'll be done.
If you like some of the short stories I posted on this Blog, check out my eBook at www.kobo.com.
In the search engine on their Web Site, type in the title, "No Return Address," click on the one by the author James Hauenstein, and you can purchase my first book for only ninety nine cents.
How can you go wrong at that price?
There is also a money back guarantee!
If you don't like it, I'll send you a penny a year for ninety nine years until your payed off!
Well, thanks for stopping by.
See you soon.

A Personal Thank You

Welly, Welly, Welly, Welly, Welly, Welly, Well.
To what do I owe the extreme pleasure of so many surprising visit of late?
(My impersonation of Alex from "A Clockwork Orange.")
I had no idea people have been visiting my blog.
I only thought I had the one visitor, since my friend Burt is the only person I have ever told to visit my blog.
Thank you to whomever for checking it out.
I appreciate it.
Now if I can get some of you to read my stories under the label "Short Stories & Poems" on the right hand side of this blog.
I would be honored.
Please feel free to comment on them too.
It will help me in the long run to become a better writer.
I have updated the short story A-L-I-V.
Correcting many mistakes and the jumbled plot.
I plan on sending the story to one of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Magazines out there, hoping they will publish it.
I'll post the name of the magazine if they decide to buy the story.
Wish me luck.
Thanks again.
