About Me

My photo
Hello my fellow Politiores Troglodytes. This Blog is a collection of Posts, Poems, & Short Stories that I write on a daily basis. If you find it entertaining, informative, and controversial, then I have done my job properly. Thank goodness too, because Karma has been on my case of late. I'm supposed to bring fifty people into the fold or I'll have to give back the part of Einstein's brain I inherited. No, I'm not one of the Scientists who got a piece of his brain when he died. Karma said, "Eat this knowledge. It'll make you smarter!" The bargain I made with Karma was, if I could change fifty people into Politiores Populos, I would be rewarded with my very own Lamborghini. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Like what you're reading, then read on. P.S. Populo is Latin for people. Politiores is Latin for educated. Troglodytes is English for troglodytes. And Einstein's brain was stolen by Thomas Stoltz Harvey after his death in 1955 and eventually divvied up into 240 pieces. If you just read that last sentence, then you have just learned something and I'm just that much closer to fulfilling my commitment to Karma!

Shout Out

I often look back on the adventures I have lived over the years and wonder if I will be remembered fondly by the people I have known throughout my life. And so far so good.

Now for a Shout Out

    1. Thank you. Every time I hear a new song that I like, I always say to myself, my favorite drummer could play that!

  • i loved playing your music

That is one of the greatest compliments I have ever gotten.
    "I loved playing your music!"
       If I were smart enough and didn't waste three weeks to come up with an appropriate reply like;
"It was our music. I just wrote the basic parts of a song but it took a group to make it a real song!"
That's what I should have said.
    *****
P.S. Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone, but this Anonymous Drummer also gave me the second greatest compliment I have ever gotten.
       He once told me over five years ago;
"I wonder how far we would have gone if you had stayed sober!"
Actually, I think it is my favorite!😎

    I Know I Am Cool

I thought I would re-post this story since there seems to be a familiar theme to what my grandson thinks about me. I was making a joke that I knew what 6, 7 meant and I said forty-two!
He walked away mumbling something to the effect, "That wasn't cool."
    *****

I was watching one of my grandsons this past weekend when he said something that I thought was kind of funny. Here is a little backstory so you can understand what happened.
    *****
Last Christmas he got a Gold Necklace, with a diamond studded
Cross attached to it, from his Aunt.
He is only 10 years old.
    *****
When he was about to leave to go home with his father,
    I said,
    "Don't forget your Bling."
    Then he said,
"You can't say that grandpa. You're too old!"
    My reaction to that was,
"What do you mean? I'm cool."
    He looked at me
    and smiled.
    "Grandpa, you where never cool!"
    Laughing I said,
    "I was cool once."
    Now he was laughing
    and he finishes by saying,
"Nobody was cool back in the olden days!"

    Here I Go Again!

I said I would return to writing this blog after I came back from my vacation.
    So I'm Back!!
I have a few ideas on what I want to write about, but I guess I will make this a diary entry.
    *****
It was a scorching, sunny day, with a hot breeze coming up from the southwest. I arrived at the airport early, as I like to do. It was at a time before the government shutdown.
    Boring!
What else can I write about?
    *****
Well, I plan on writing once a week at first, then I will see how it goes from there.
This is good practice for me, writing on my blog. Because I plan on publishing my third book in the spring of 2026. So I need to tone up my grammar skills before I do. Spelling will take care of itself.
    On that note.
    *****
I had a great idea while I was away.
When I was trying to get a Literary Agent to help me release my second book, I was told that I was too wordy. I wrote like the authors of the 1950s and 60s.
I thought about this and I figure, they are probably right. Those were my literary heroes growing up so why wouldn't I emulate them? But what else was going on with me, at that time, while reading those books?
       I remember!
I was smoking pot which enhanced the imagery in my mind of what I was reading!
So my suggestion to you all,
read my first two books while smoking pot
and they will make a lot more sense!

    The Right Of Passage

    The Right Of Passage
    One definition I saw says,
"As teenagers transition from childhood to adulthood, they naturally engage in behaviors that can sometimes be perceived as dumb or risky, especially by adults
. These behaviors, often amplified by peer pressure and a developing brain, can be seen as attempts to explore their independence, test boundaries, and establish a sense of self and belonging outside of their family structure."
I think that sums it up pretty well.
    *****
Of all the dumb stuff I did as a child, there is only one that I can laugh about now because I thought kids today would be missing out on it.

    Firing Of Stephen Colbert

The firing of Stephen Colbert by CBS came as a shock to a lot of people, especially since he has the highest ratings for a Late Night talk show host. But this is not unprecedented.
Have you ever heard of The Smothers Brothers? Their one hour comedy show was canceled in the late 1960s by "CBS" at the time when they were one of the network's highest rated shows.
       Sound Familiar?
They constantly ridiculed President Nixon for his policies and the handling of the Vietnam War. At the time, it was well publicized that Nixon was putting pressure on CBS to get rid of the Brothers because of all negativity from their show.
       Sound Familiar?
(Old Pumpkin Face hasn't started a war yet but it's not because he isn't trying!)
Yet, the Oligarchy, Robber Barons, Republicans, and Billionaires of this country will never let its citizens, get along with one another. Hatred and Division between Races makes them money and gives them power over people, who rather blame anybody, but themselves, for their problems. Because the Rich told them it's okay to do so!
It has even happen to me. I had a guess writer (Dave) back when Pumpkin Face was elected the first time around and he criticized Taco for his prejudices, policies, and the man himself when the long arm of the Rich came knocking on my blog and told me, first; I need to take the post down or I will loose my ability to blog, second; they will no longer advertise on my blog until I do, taking away what little income this was generating in the first place and third; they are going to change the way I sent global emails to my core group of followers. Which has declined ever since. Effectively killing my blog.

There Is A Way Out Of Doom Scrolling

    *****
I believe this is the third time that I have refereed to a story from the Good News Network on my blog.
I have been writing this Blog since 2012 and besides writing about my life, flash fiction, stuff I find interesting about science, and so on. I have also commented on the political scene in this country. Which can way heavily on a person's mind after awhile.
I often think about that one line from the song Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger when I try to understands how we have come to this point in our history. All because of hatred.

Beer Is Proof God Loves Us

When I first met my wife, she used to call me "The Drunken Master" because of all the beer I drank, all of the time. When I look back now and think about all the money I spent over the years on beer, if I had that money today, think of all the beer I could buy!

Hey, have you heard that Apple, the computer company, stopped developing their own Autonomous Cars? They had a huge problem to overcome first. They were having trouble loading Windows!

    You Can't Go Home Again

The expression "you can't go home again" signifies that it's impossible to fully recapture the feeling, experience, or environment of a past home or time. It implies that both the person and the place have changed too much for a return to be the same. This is often related to the idea that one's perspective and life experiences evolve, making it difficult to revisit a place with the same innocence or nostalgia.
    *****
I have been beating myself up mentally, for a while now, because I haven't been Blogging consistently like I used to. I lost the feeling I got by creating content and fictional stories to write about for this Blog.
I know this media has died since its heyday due to the convenience of listening to podcasts, scrolling through apps, and that there are less people who actually like to take the time to read nowadays.
So, to hopefully get that spark back, I went to the place where it all began. My local library.
Yes, I used to go to the library at least three times a week back in 2012. I still love to read but today my library has an app they use to offer eBooks and audiobooks for their local residents.
During the pandemic things changed and it was just easier and safer to use the app and stay home.
So going back was definitely was a good nostalgic feeling even though I knew it could never be the same.
Surprisingly though, it did bring a smile to my face and a renewed vigor to visit more often. I plan on going at least once a week beginning in July after I take care of some personal business next month. Each time I am going to try and post something on my Blog.
          For my enjoyment.
I know I will never be able to obtain the readership I once had. Where I would get 100 to 200 clicks a day, but like I just mentioned, from now on it is for my enjoyment and I invite anyone else who likes to read in small spurts to join me. Here, on my Blog.

    Soul Mate

(Originally From Friday, July 17, 2015)

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colors seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.

I Am So Tired Of Keeping Quiet

Watching this country turning to a Fascist Ideology because of old Pumpkin Face in the White House, Nazi salutes by a South African who is shaming Nikola Tesla's name, White Supremacists marching down the streets of Washington D.C., and extreme Religious Fundamentalist groups who are forcing their beliefs upon us all, I cannot sit by any longer without saying something.
Now is the time I really wish I was some kind of influencer. Even in my heyday of writing this Blog, the most views I would average would be one hundred to one hundred fifty per day. And I am very proud of the fact that so many people came to see what I had to say almost every day. Thank you
The reason I would want to be an influencer is so I could start a "Peaceful Protest" in the same vein as Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi.
My idea would be, to do the same kind unified protest that the Mexican Americans did in the 1990s in California.
A quick search revealed little to no information about the protest but luckily I experienced the impact firsthand at the job I had at the time.
What they did was simple. They all stayed home for the day.
No marching down main street. No holding up signs on street corners. They just stayed home and businesses went scrambling.
You take away a large part of the workforce for a day, it impacts the profit margins of all businesses.
If it could be organized somehow, we could have a day where Mexican Americans stayed home, a week later Black Americans stayed home, then a week later all Women of America stayed home, and then the different minority Religious Groups would have their day to shine.
